Rooted in African-American cultural traditions PHILADANCO’S mission is to expose people of all ages to high quality modern dance performances and educational programs. PHILADANCO presents the highest quality of professional dance performances and improves the skills of emerging professional dancers and choreographers in a nurturing environment while increasing the appreciation of dance among its many communities.

As we enter into our 35th year, and in these times of uncertainty, more than ever; it is imperative that we rely on the continued support received for contributed income from foundations, corporations, individuals and through fundraising activities. Many new challenges now galvanize our attention; things unheard of at our inception in 1970 have changed drastically over the past years. Nevertheless, we continue to strive to assist young people who are looking to better their lives and seeking opportunities in the arts.

Funding for salaries, infrastructure and capacity building have always been the most challenging for PHILADANCO. Supporters have a preference for investing their contributions in projects and program areas such as "new works," "community outreach," "production," "social services" and "education." To meet these challenges, PHILADANCO is seeking to increase its support base in the areas of administrative, artistic and fiscal programming. PHILADANCO commits to soliciting and investing the resources into hiring additional staff, expanding physical space, purchasing new equipment and technical systems
