Developing and piloting new programming and initiatives is nothing new for Philadanco. We welcome new challenging opportunities with a commitment to continued excellence and the excitement of facing new hurdles. From a grass roots community based performing arts organization to one of American's foremost dance ensembles today, Philadanco exists as a model for emerging choreographers, dancers and other dance companies. Our programs are divided into four core units:

Instruction and Training Program

This fourty week program is the basis of the entire Philadanco structure. Each week from September to June, nationally known teachers come to teach our members of the Instruction and Training program. The young people are thoroughly schooled in such dance genres as Ballet, Jazz, African, Tap, and other techniques such as Horton and Dunham. The participants are given free dancewear, counseling and participate in the annual 'Danco on Danco' Concert where they are able to develop and showcase their choreographic and production skills. The instruction and training program has proven to be a reservoir of dance talent which often graduates into the professional
dance company.
